The Petzl LIVANOS is a high-strength, chromoly steel knifeblade piton designed for aid climbing and progression in thin cracks found in granite and hard rock. Unlike semi-hardened pitons that mold to the rock, the LIVANOS holds securely by jamming; its specialized composition and heat treatment make it highly resistant to deformation when hammered into tight fissures. Note that this piton is engineered strictly for progression (supporting body weight only) and is not designed to hold a dynamic fall. Available in 4 cm, 6 cm, 8 cm, and 10 cm lengths to accommodate various crack depths, it is an essential piece of hardware for technical alpine ascents and big wall routes.
